What it is

Online Trivia Quiz — المسابقة الجماعية, Arabic for the group quiz — is a quiz for friends playing together, each on their own phone. One player opens a room, everyone else joins it with a code, and the whole room answers the same questions against the same clock.

What it does

• A room for up to eight — One player opens a room and shares its four-letter code; up to seven friends join from their own devices. There is nothing to install and no account to create — a name is enough.
• Ten rounds, against the clock — Everyone gets the same question at the same moment and ten seconds to answer. A right answer scores, a fast right answer scores more, and every player's score stays on screen throughout.
• Over 1,200 questions — Twelve categories — geography, history, science, the animal and plant world, space, language and literature, Islamic culture and more — drawn at random for every game.
• Name that theme — The second game type plays the opening theme of a classic cartoon or TV show — more than 150 of them — and gives thirty seconds to name it. The wrong answers come from the same kind of show, so it cannot be won by elimination.
• Arabic through and through — Right-to-left from the first screen, questions written in Arabic rather than translated into it, and western digits for every timer, score and room code.
